Molecular Pathways (a division of CliniSense Corporation) was founded in 2001 by
Stephen E. Zweig,
Ph.D.
Dr. Zweig has over twenty years experience in
biotechnology. Before starting CliniSense, he founded Avocet Medical, Inc. in 1991, and served as
CEO through 1997, and Chairman through 2001. Avocet developed the AvoSureTM home CoumadinTM monitoring meter, which
pioneered new treatments for thrombosis in the US and Europe. Its
innovative dry-reagent protease-substrate chemistry and miniaturized
fluorescent detector technology won an AAMI award in 1997. It has
since been acquired by Beckman-Coulter.
Dr. Zweig received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from UCSD in
1980. He was an assistant professor in pharmacology at Baylor College
of Medicine, and an Arthritis Foundation postdoctoral fellow at NIH.
Dr. Zweig has also held management positions at Bayer Diagnostics, and LifeScan, a Johnson
and Johnson company.
Dr. Zweig is an advisor to the College of Creative Studies
